Windows Vista “Ultimate” along with several other flavors of Vista are likely to show up January, 2007. So far two basic categories of Vista exist, basically Home and Business. On the Home side there’s the “Starter Edition” which we won’t talk about to much here simply because it’s too basic and we have no plans to sell any systems based on it preferring a Ubuntu or Freespire Linux based low budget PC instead. “Home Basic” is designed for lower end PCs that may not have a dedicated GPU (integrated video vs. a nice high powered video adapter like the GeForce 7 series) or lower processing capabilities. “Home Premium” would be our minimum choice with it’s lovely 3D, Aero glass interface, lots of Home Entertainment, productivity and home networking support, including easy WiFi setup and security.
For Business versions we are expecting to see a “Small Business Edition”, a “Professional Edition” kind of like WinXP Pro but with broader more flexible support for all business sizes and “Enterprise Edition” which is expected to be very secure-able among many useful IT manager inviting features.
At the top of Microsoft’s Vista product offerings is “Ultimate” and it really is expected to be the ultimate computing experience both from visual/interactive and productivity aspect. It can also be authentically stated that to run Vista Ultimate, you really will need ultimate hardware to go along with it to truly get an Ultimate PC user experience.
Thus we offer detailed specifications of our “NBP Vista Ultimate” PC with reasons very specifically why.
